LAUNCHING 4 NEW CRU MOVEMENTS IN BRAZIL
We made it just in time. Holly’s trip to Brazil was the last trip overseas with Cru until the Corona Virus is under control worldwide. God is in control. He knew we could launch 4 new movements on 4 campuses in just 4 days on a group of campuses connected to “The Federal University of the Holy Spirit”. With that name, we knew God had a plan!
The Brazil Team
Our first goal was to find Christians who wanted to start a movement on their campus by becoming key volunteers. We asked them to write out their vision for their campus. We discuss how the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 commands us to go make disciples. We then explained that we can do that by discipling people who will disciple others, like Paul taught Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2. We then challenged them to think of 5 friends that don’t know Jesus that they could share the gospel with that week. If they weren’t sure how to share the gospel, we trained them. Then we challenged them to think of 5 Christian friends whom they could invite to become key volunteers with them in order to reach their campus with the gospel together.
One student said, “I am not a Christian, but many of my friends deal with depression and I believe your group will help them, so I will tell many people about your group.”
A highlight was meeting Roger, a student volunteer with Cru. He was Holly’s translator for her evangelism training to the Brazilian students. He has translated 2 books from English to Portuguese and said he’d like to translate Holly’s book, “Follow My Lead” so that students could take greater steps of faith in sharing the gospel.
We would like to bless his efforts by raising the rightful amount to translate a book ($10 a page) which would come to $2,920. The money raised will be given to Roger through Cru as a means for him to take students on mission trips around his country.
