MINISTRY + QUARANTINE
It’s been two months that we have been quarantined. Though we only leave the house for groceries, life has not slowed down with homeschooling and figuring out digital strategies for ministry.
Briella has learned to FaceTime friends and family as our social butterfly misses playdates. Carter has been zooming his kindergarten class three times a week. Holly has been training students on Zoom how to spiritually engage with their friends on social media platforms by sharing everystudent.com articles or by making a #JesusChangedMyLife video. Matt is working tirelessly on ministry websites for Cru as we are more dependent on digital platforms than ever before. He has also been serving a church by editing and live-streaming their Sunday morning church services.
Holly just completed editing her new book, “Praying with Your Kids before School.” Matt will format it into a book this month so that it is ready to get in the hands of families before the new school year starts.
This summer, Holly will be taking two seminary classes as well as helping to teach on Cru’s digital summer mission. Students who can no longer travel to go on a summer mission will be engaging for 6 weeks in a digital community where they will be discipled and grow in evangelism strategies online. This will greatly help us train student leaders on how to continue to reach out to others on their campuses in the fall if there continues to be social distancing.
Matt has the opportunity to take a 4-week sabbatical starting May 25th. Please pray that he will get the necessary websites updated so that he can truly use those weeks to enjoy the Lord and seek Him. After a sabbatical, he will continue working on websites to help ministries get ready to relaunch in the fall. Thank you for praying for us as we trust God to use us in this unique time.
PERSONAL UPDATE & PRAYER
Last month, God graciously raised enough funds to have Holly’s book, “Follow My Lead” translated into Portuguese. Holly will take time over the next month to do a second edit on her book before it goes to Roger to translate. Please pray for wisdom as she edits. Please pray that Matt’s Sabbatical will be a time of deep refreshment in the Lord and some good time to rest and reflect as a family.
