Maleah Comes to Christ
Maleah is a young woman Holly met at a church retreat she spoke at a year ago. She wasn’t ready to accept Jesus because her friend had recently died in a car accident. She didn’t understand why God would allow that to happen.
A year later, Holly saw her at another women’s retreat. The gospel was shared on stage, but she didn’t respond. Holly asked her if she could go through the gospel one-on-one, and she said yes. They went through the track “Would You Like to Know God Personally?” on the GodTools mobile app, but when they got to the decision point, Maleah said, “I’ve been exploring Buddhism, so I don’t know…” Holly asked if they could meet up and talk more.
They discussed a chapter on the worldview of Buddhism in the book, “So What’s the Difference?” by Fritz Ridenour. She quickly agreed that Buddhism didn’t make sense.
The next time they met, Holly & Maleah went through “Perspective Cards.” These cards help reveal your worldview. Maleah consistently chose answers with a biblical worldview but still didn’t feel ready to become a Christian. She wanted evidence.
Next, they went through a lesson in Holly’s discipleship book on “How Should We View the Bible?” Maleah was convinced that the Bible was trustworthy. So, the next time, Holly suggested they go through the gospel again, using the first week of her discipleship training. When Holly asked her if she was ready to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, Maleah said YES! She prayed out loud right in Panera!
Maleah’s spiritual journey shows us that we must walk with people on their journey, not just share the gospel once. She needed to hear it multiple times at retreats and even one-on-one. She had barriers that needed to be broken down and questions that needed to be answered. Who is on a spiritual journey around you, and how can you join them where they are at to help them consider Jesus? Please pray for Maleah as she and Holly begin the discipleship process together.
Pray for Upcoming Events
Holly will be doing her evangelistic outreach on July 9th in Tennessee to a group of young people. Please pray that lives will be changed with the gospel. She has completed writing The Chosen’s evangelistic discussion guides for seasons 1-3, which are being edited and piloted this summer. She’s also been asked to write three discipleship lessons about gender and identity for all students in the campus ministry. She will be working on those in July. Please pray for wisdom as she writes this.
