Discipling an Atheist to Christ
Bri Most, pictured on the right, is one of Holly’s students in her Disciplemaker Class. Here is Bri’s story as she took a step of faith to start discipling others.
The “Disciple to Disciplemaker” training has been life-changing. I prayed for someone to disciple, and a friend on social media, Miranda, came to mind. We had never met or even spoken to each other. She and her husband were both atheists. As they saw how evil the world could be in the past year, they began to consider the idea of a God. Miranda started to ask me questions over social media, and we exchanged phone numbers. I invited her over text to meet with me weekly. It felt terrifying, but I chose to obey God and go for it. She immediately responded with excitement and said yes!
We have been meeting virtually for eight weeks, and it has been amazing. The lessons are outlined for me to teach with each week. The content is rich, with scripture to back it up, and the questions lead to deep discussions. Miranda questioned every Bible verse, everything Jesus did, if the bible could be real, etc. The lessons answered most of her questions, and Miranda has grown in her faith as a result. Last weekend, Miranda and her husband got baptized. I still have not met Miranda in person, but our weekly zoom calls and almost daily texting have grown into a beautiful friendship.
I’ve since invited another woman into a discipleship relationship, who was a childhood friend. I saw on social media that she was just baptized. I felt the Holy Spirit nudging me to text her and offer weekly discipleship meetings, and she said yes! We begin this week!
I am so grateful for this discipleship training. It has given me the courage to share the gospel and teach others. Had I not had my own experience with these lessons, I don’t think I would be discipling others, and certainly not in such an intentional way.
PERSONAL UPDATE
We just came back from a busy week in CA visiting family and friends. Holly is now wrapping up her first semester of Grad school with one more paper and a final in Old Testament. Please pray for Matt as he’s had a bad cough due to seasonal allergies. Pray for the kids as they head to “in-person” school again on August 4th.
Thank you for your prayers for us and our ministry! It is truly changing lives!
